OUR STORY
In October of 2017, we decided to undertake a challenging mission to make and deliver holiday cards to all residents in the long term care facilities of Thunder Bay. Despite the doubts in our ability to create and hand deliver nearly 1300 cards in time with the fast approaching deadline, our unwavering determination and the endless support and help we received from our families and friends ensured our success. The smiles that a simple holiday card brought to the faces of the residents, and true holiday spirit present in these facilities was incomparable, and thus, Caring Cards began.
In the fall of 2018, our goal is to expand Caring Cards and recruit many Thunder Bay students from a variety of schools to lend a hand to our project. We will be contacting several elementary and middle schools around the city in hopes of involving grade 7 and 8 students in the card making process, and will continue to rely on our friends and classmates to help achieve our mission this holiday season.

As upcoming high school seniors, we do not know where our paths will take us next fall, however, we are both confident that Caring Cards should continue regardless of where we will be. Our hope is to engage middle school and fellow high school students to create a program that can continue and sustain itself, with new students every year. Being teenagers ourselves, we experience first hand how the opportunities for students are very limited in Thunder Bay. We want to change the stigma and provide teens all over Thunder Bay with a fun and gratifying project that they can participate in.
